I have a pretty urgent prayer request. One of the residents here found out that one of his best friends was murdered. He already struggles with depression and alcoholism, and he is not a Christian (professes atheism). As far as I can tell he also does not have many really close friends here.
Please pray for protection for him for these first few days, as I am very concerned that he may harm himself with drugs and alcohol. Pray also that the community would have wisdom in being able to reach out and help him.

There's a certain slant of light,
On winter afternoons
That oppresses, like the weight
Of cathedral tunes.
Heavenly hurt it gives us;
We can find no scar,
But internal difference
Where the meanings, are.
None may teach it anything,
'T is the seal, despair,
An imperial affliction
Sent us of the air.
When it comes, the landscape listens,
Shadows hold their breath;
When it goes, 't is like the distance
On the look of death.

Update: the resident seems to be doing okay, but hasn't really changed any of his lifestyle habits. Please continue to lift him up in prayer, that he would see that there is a God who loves him unconditionally and wants a better life for him.
